Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Arrives, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors

Nintendo alongside Illumination shared the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the upcoming animated film.

Following up on the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will propel Mario to the outer limits of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

A Space-Faring Quest Drawing from Classic Games

In the vein of the Wii console classics that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a popular character from the first movie.

However, it seems Mario and his sibling Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Celebrity Voice Actors Come Back and Grow

The movie will see the return of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

A Significant Period for Mario

The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut close to the 40th anniversary of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Beyond the film, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.

Nintendo has a trio of new releases publicly declared for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Premiere Date Announced

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
