Australia's law enforcement have suspended the operation for a four-year-old who has been lost in the wilderness for approximately twenty-one days, after renewed operations proved unsuccessful to discover any evidence of the child.

Timeline of Occurrences

The young boy was last seen engaging outside his home on a remote sheep station close to Yunta, about a significant distance from Adelaide, on September 27th.

His grandparent left him alone for about half an hour before looking for him, only to discover the boy gone, initiating one of the most extensive ground and aerial operations in the region's past.

Current Status

Law enforcement - who do not suspect wrongdoing - say they will persist looking into, but that the case has become a "search for recovery".

Earlier, officials for a short time reduced the operation, only to resume it on Tuesday alongside numerous military personnel.

"Spokesperson authorities said police were looking a broader area based on updated evaluations from survivability and rescue specialists, rather than any recent developments."

Mission Difficulties

On Friday, authorities confirmed that the new hunt had not uncovered any traces of the child.

"The situation that Gus is a small child, the terrain is very difficult, harsh and affected by unpredictable climate has made the operation difficult and more difficult for those involved," police said in a release.

About 470 sq km - an area roughly two times the dimensions of urban center - has now been covered, and a twelve-member taskforce set up lately is expected to continue investigating. Police have not discounted further operations of the location in the future.
